USEFUL RESOURCE CREATIVE COMMONS

This week, we have been working mostly on Creative Common licenses, apart from carrying out a children lesson about some different topics...

From now on, we will be using Creative Common license resources, so that is why we wanted to share this searcher we have found, which has been and will be pretty useful for us, and we hope that it will also be useful for the people who read us.

In this web we can even choose the type of resource that we want to search for (media, music, pictures, documents...)

FACILITATOR

Hello everyone!
I'm Ana Ruiz this week as facilitator.

First of all, here you have all the roles of this week:

Alba Ramsay López , Journalist
Paz Pascual and Isa Torralba, Analysts
Raquel Ramón, Star
Laura Zuza and Sandra, Translators
Ana Sánchez, Curator Farmer

Well as I imagined, the role of facilitator has been difficult. It has so much responsibility and when the things that you have planed don’t work you have to think in the way that you have organized the work.

The first day that we started the work was Monday, this day all members of the group had to read all the information about the exercise, to know what we have to do and to have a clear concept about the topic for next day.
The next day, Tuesday we started doing the Power Points. Firstly we had to do the Creative Commons ones. To do this   I break up  the group in two. The first one would do the part of explain what Creative Commons License resource is.  The second group had to do the power point about the 20 basic tips for developing a good presentation. Finally I had to put together the two tasks and upload it to slideshare.
Then, the second part of the work was to prepare a presentation about one topic, which at first was The Planets, but after some drawbacks we decided to do it about Energy Resources.

But when we have done all the work, and we were happy because we have finished ahead of time we didn’t realize that the work, concretely the presentation about the Energy Resources was badly focused.
Unfortunately, was out of time just when the start was doing the exposition. So we need a solution.
And we started again because we had to do a good presentation.
The solution was to do again the presentation and with a different point of view. In order to do it, to be presented we have recorded a video, where the star is exposing the topic.

Also as a facilitator I was able to do some modifications on the blog. I have change many times, because I liked this view:

But finally I decided to leave it like it looks now, because is easier to read it.

Well I think that despite of this mistake, we are working properly.

This week has been less difficult than the last week, but I think it is because we didn’t want to be lost as the last week, and all of us were working hard. Also I have to say that we are more comfortable with the group and now we can express what everyone  think to improve in our work . And this make easier to work, so I hope that the next week do it better and improve in all aspects as we can, to finally  reaching our goals.

See you next week in my next role.

Ana Mª Ruiz.

TRANSLATORS

During this week, we, Sandra and Laura are the translators. We hope that our definitions will be very interesting and useful for your learning this week.

Creative commons: it is a type of licence which allows people to use the materials published with the same permit . The materials can be all types of media, pictures, music…, or even any document which has the licence. The author of those resources is in charge of choosing if using this licence or the copyright one; it can be very useful for other people. Some of the webs which contain those materials are Google, Flickr, Pixabay…

Tips: those are some advices that could be followed. If we focus in oral presentation tips, they must be followed for making a good oral speech and for showing a good presentation, commonly power point presentation.

Licence elements: those are the materials that can be copied and redistributed. Also, they can be changed or edited, but if someone do so, the changes must be under the ‘copyleft’ licence. Moreover, they should not be used with a commercial purpose.

Attribution: it is an interesting term to define, which is a part of the creative commons licence. It is refered to the right of the author to decide about his or her work to be copied, distributed, or changed. Attribution can be combined with ShareAlike and No Derivatives, joint as well between them as a NonCommercial resource.

Slide share: is a web where power point or other types of documents can be uploaded and published. It is similar to YouTube, but it is not used just for videos, and they can be seen by everybody. This website allows users to comment and rate the presentations. Moreover, it is considered one of the best tools for education & e-learning.

See you next week, as Curator-farmers.

JOURNALIST

Hello, I’m Alba, the journalist for this last week that has gone by.  I’m going to make a summary of our last weeks task.

First day - Tuesday 18th February.

We had an hour of class in which we did a little organising of how we were going to work, however, the most important part of the day was after out lessons because we stayed at the university, ate there and did our work. First, we divided ourselves into small groups, each doing different tasks in order to work more efficiently. It was a stressful evening, when we thought everything had been put together, with only small bits and pieces to be finished, while talking amongst ourselves we realised that we had chosen the same topic as another group, so we decided to change the topic and start all over again.
As a result it was a very long day, by the end we felt we had everything under control and most of the job done.

Second day - Wednesday 19th February

We didn’t meet up physically on Wednesday, but we kept in touch on the internet or by mobile on WhatsApp, so if we had any doubts we asked the others, we sent everyone else a copy of each modification that each of us had made.

Third day – Thursday 20th February

We were in class, with all the work done, when we again decided to completely change our topic. After the chaos of having chosen the same topic as another group we then decided to choose ”energy sources”, and having done that, on Thursday we decided to change it completely.
We thought of creating a short story aimed at primary school children, so we again had to plan each of our tasks to have it finished by the end of the weekend.

Fourth, fifth and sixth days – Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd, Sunday 23rd February

We were on the final stretch, however, with each one of us back in our home towns and villages we again worked together using the internet, sending the others in the group all the files and links, working hard to put everything together. As the weekend went by, everything was getting done, and each one of us was reviewing it to make sure there weren't any mistakes.

Seventh day- Monday 24th February

Even though we had to do two different presentations, on Monday, our star Raquel Ramon had only to present the slide-show about energy sources. It wasn’t as successful as we had hoped. We did our best but not in the best way, we did not correctly understand the target and the characteristics, so the presentation didn’t go as we had planned. Nevertheless, we must extract the positives from this experience, we’ve learnt from it and so we know what needs modifying.

As a result of this week's endeavours, I want to highlight that from every bad outcome you can always extract a good one; you should always try to learn from your errors and mistakes.

And lastly, I would like to recommend one of my classmate’s blog which are Give Me 7. I’m amazed with the appearance, organization and structure of the blog. From T8T we would like to congratulate them. Don’t forget to check it out!

See you shortly,

Alba Ramsay

CURATOR FARMER

Good night everyone,

This is Ana Sánchez, this week T8T Curator Farmer. Another week is passing and we are finishing our third-week tasks and making amends for our old task errors... It´s hard to be wrong, but it is not just a saying that you may learn from your mistakes. I hope that we truly learn from ours.

From February 17 to 24 we have been working on Creative Common Licensing and Presentation creating and, as a curator farmer, I have had to pay attention to the way of referring every piece of information that we were using. It is usual for me (as for almost every student) to keep a file with the pages and the information related to my works, but this time I have had to be much more accurate... Yes, APA style is complicating things a little bit! But I think it´s a complete way of attributing works and letting others check the sources you found, so let´s use it!

I have tried to compile all the information and references in our rising Pearltree, but don´t worry, I will check it from time to time to add whatever could be missing! I´m glad I have had the curator farmer´s role this CCL-week, because attribution and referencing are quite close terms, and  I have learnt both by reading about them and by practicing when referencing. I have also added a file with a reference list for APA Style, and an interesting video from slideshare by Gimenez, E. (2014). I hope all these materials are useful for you.

Here you have the access to our blossoming PearlTree. Enjoy it!

Ana Mª Sánchez, T8T Curator Farmer.

STAR

Hello, I'm Raquel, the Star of my group this week, and I would like to tell you my experience about all the week and my presentation, which was a bit disaster!! :(

Well, first of all, what we had to do was to create a powerpoint explaning the main characteristics, types and definition of the Creative Commons Program, which is very useful to look up good information to do different academic works.
The next activity was create other powerpoint reflecting the main and more important tips to do a good presentation.

And finally, I, the Star, had to do a oral presentation, presenting a topic that we had chose, our topic was about Sources of Energies, imaging that I was a teachers and I had to explain the chosen lessons to the primary children' class in a useful and interesting way.

I was very very very nervous.Well, the oral presentation was weak, because Linda, the teachers explain us that our powerpoint was not a properly powerpoint to explain it children. So, we tried to do a good work, changing some wrong things. At first, I feel very worry about my presentation, because it was not how I expected. But, finally, I think that all this problems and difficulties can be very useful to improve and do the next work in a better way. So, instead of the horrible presentation, I believe that Linda correct us to improve and get a good grade in the subject and learn more and more everyday.

Also, thanks to this activity, we learnt to use other programs such as Slidshare to put the video on it. When I look up something on Internet, powerpoint on slidshare was used by me and my classmates to pick up information to do a especific work and I never thought about... ¿ Can I put a video made by me in this program? or answer like What's about this program?

So, I leave you my oral presentation in a video. I hope you like it.
Also, we can see our powerpoints in Slidshare about other methodology to introduce the sources of energies to children and the tips to do a good presentation and also the other work that we did at the beginning about the Universe.

Thank you very muchh

ANALYSTS

Good afternoon, readers!

We’re T8T Team’s analysts this week (Paz and Isa). For us, this is one of the most complicated roles because we have to express all the feelings of the group members and also to evaluate them (which is not very nice).

This week, the organization has been better than other weeks because we have finished the work on time. We think it is because now we know each other better than at the beginning, so we know the weakness and strengths of each one of us. Another reason is that we have divided the work better (the facilitator will explain it better to you).

For us, the best part of the activity has been all the activity itself, I mean, finishing it on time and the fact that we didn’t had many problems (we share the same point of view about the topic).

The other way round, the worst part was when we discovered that other group had chosen the same topic as us. We discovered it when we had just finished our work, so we started again to look for another topic and to search information about that new one. We felt badly because we were so exited with our finished work and the idea of repeating it was frightened. But we were so brave and we did it. (;

But the worst moment of the week was to realized (the day of the presentation) that our work was wrong. We had a wrong idea of an oral presentation, fortunately our teacher showed us how to make a good presentation. We did it again.

But the best moment was when we were working all together, because we understood each other.

What we have learnt all along this week is that we have to advise (when we have to choose a topic) before finishing the work in order not to use the same topic as another group. But the most important thing we have learnt is how to make a good oral presentation (even we have learnt it by the hard way), now we’re ready to make really good oral presentations.

As a group, we have to conserve the good ways of working we have developed during this three weeks (improving it) and also the fact that we have respected other group members’ ideas, because this is the best thing we have as a group.

On the other hand, what we wouldn’t conserve for the next weeks is to let someone to finished the work at home because we’re a group and we have to do it together.

The content we have worked at is very useful, not only for our degree or future job (we’ll have to use it so many times during both) but also for everyone who wants to make a good oral presentation, not just students that have to expose their class works but also for our finally degree task or presentations at our jobs.

As a conclusion, we have to say that the group has worked so hard. We have lived so many feelings in a very short time due to all the things that had happened to us, but this has made us improve as team members and our learning.

See you soon,
Paz and Isa.
